Due to our business and our culture, Altipiani has always been sensitive to the preservation of natural resources. Our outdoor activities have always been physical activity excluding motor sports. For several years, we consider and put in place a systematic policy of energy conservation.
At the agency: print management, use of energy saving light bulbs including showcase electric timer, mechanical ventilation (no air conditioning).
Advertising: our whole offer is available on the internet. We do not publish catalogs. Our distributed advertising is limited to the publishing of a poster and a small flyer on recycled paper strictly for our seasonal business.
For activities: we look for equipment and technical material both durable and of high quality. Canyon combinations are repaired by a local person. Setting up of moorings, choice of courses .... we try to leave the smallest footprint on our favorite playground.
Our proposed activities are mainly concentrated in our region, the Cortenais, and we propose a carpool when possible. In stay, all trips are made primarily by public transport (train or bus).
For 2010, several issues arose for us. We wondered about the financial compensation of CO2 emissions. For now, we find the concept too vague and ill-suited to our small business. It seemed more appropriate to set up a eco-friendly action:
With your participation and help, we support two organizations that conduct actions for protection of the environment and natural areas.
By completing the registration form by one of our tours or by subscribing to our agency for a day activity, you can contribute € 1 or more to the association of your choice Altipiani committed* to do the same .

*Altipiani will donate a maximum of 1 € / participant for day activities and up to 5 € / participant for stays
The French section of Mountain Wilderness was created in September 1988 at the Congress of Evian. At the national level, Mountain Wilderness provides records on sensitive issues, whether or case studies of innovative thinking on broader issues. These documents allow a dialogue with the authorities. The specific actions, the information disseminated to associations, seminars to discuss the future of the French mountain, pedagogy for schools and the general public and participation in various committees of experts are all ways that Mountain Wilderness uses to convey his message and learn from external reflections.
Mountain Wilderness France has obtained the agreement of organizations for environmental protection under section L141-1 and 2 of the Environmental Code.

Far from being "anti-resorts", we strive to maintain a balance between developed areas and natural areas. For this we are striving to limit the spread of irrational ski resorts and preserve open space located on the edge. We are also working on a better consideration of the environment in the ski areas, particularly in regard to the artificial snow.
Many abandoned facilities degrade our mountain landscapes: lifts, buildings, military bunkers, ... Mountain Wilderness raises awareness of the local authorities and managers of natural areas to the problem of abandoned facilities in the mountains, particularly through examplary cleaning operations. The association also develops solutions for the future.
The use of private cars has a strong impact on the environment and the approach of the environment. We strive to promote alternative means of travel in the mountains and reduce the role of the private car in the mountains.
The project Mountain to live aims to develop soft tourism initiatives. Indeed, we believe it is possible to harmonize mountain life, economy and respect for natural environments. For this, we are working on the networking of tourism stakeholders that are environmentally friendly, working with the Regional Nature Parks, ...
The mountain is an area of freedom and therefore of responsibility. Mountain Wilderness promotes sports activities respectful of the environment and its hosts.
The invasion of the mountain by motor sports, contrary to our laws, becomes unbearable in such a small area. Our action aims to regulate the practice of all motor sports (motorcycles, quads, 4x4, snowmobile, heli-skiing ...). We want, first, get the enforcement of the 1991 Act, then put a stop at any event that promotes these prohibited activities.
The association U Levante is an approved association of environmental protection. It was born in 1986 in Corsica, to prevent the urbanization in the mountains of a natural site: the Restonica Valley. The lawsuit has been gained in administrative court. Since 1986, U Levante has never been "asleep."
U Levante is a completely independent association that request and receives no subsidy.
U Levante works as an "opposition force" and its collective leadership consists in eleven volunteer activists. Its actions in favor of environmental protection are diverse:
Various complaints in court against pollutions (thermal power station of Vazzio) or building permits on the coast (Piantarella, San Fiurenzu, etc.) show its activities
Its actions against air pollution (nitrogen oxides) of the EDF power station of Vazzio (Ajaccio) led the authorities to take, in July 2005, a new decree about the upgrading of engines and reduction of pollutants emissions. U Levante is an elected member of the Regional Council of the Sites. U Levante, in collaboration with the Collective for Coast law in Corsica, leads many activities for maintaining the protection of outstanding areas of the island (many conferences) and denies any tourism PADDUC project.
